The Mig Vapor Torpedo dry herb vape pen has quickly become one of the most popular dry herb vaporizers on the market. At £60 it is a steal. Simply put, the Torpedo works and works extremely well and its price easily makes it a contender for the best quality budget dry herb vaporizer out there at the moment. It is also relatively small and very discreet. The Torpedo kit comes with more accessories than herb vaporizers three times the price. It looks subtle and like a standard vape pen, however with its large heating chamber it is one of the most powerful and portable dry herb vaporizers on the market. Lets take a look at this vaporizer in closer detail.

Torpedo heating chamber

One of the major complaints most people have about many of the smaller, portable, vaporisers is that out of the box, many of them have a heating chamber that is just too small; meaning that re-packing herb into the chamber has to be done many times per vaporizing session. The Torpedo has an advanced ceramic heating chamber which boasts a massive 1.7 ml capacity which makes it an ideal choice as a portable vapour battleship. As we all know, size isn’t everything but fortunately the Mig Vapor Torpedo boasts more than just size, it has an impressive set of three temperature options ensuring that the herb can be vaporized at the ideal temperature every time, meaning smooth, consistent and perfect vapour every time. The top of the range Khan herb vape features a 0.5 g chamber.

The different settings allow a range of different uses. The low setting gives off a thin but still flavourful vapour and is ideal for making the herb last as long as possible without compromising vapour quality. The highest setting will produce the thickest vapour and is good for ensuring all your herb is utilised at the end of a session, it can also be used with fresh chambers but be warned it will use up the chamber much quicker (but still give the same quality, and efficiency but with a much thicker vapour). The medium setting is the middle ground between the two, ensuring thicker vapour than the low setting but with much more longevity than the high setting. This vaporizer is highly reliable and when compared to something like the Mig Vapor Herb-E it offers a similar level of portability and form factor, but excels due to its vapour quality and previously mentioned consistency.

Faulty Torpedo units

It is worthwhile pointing out that with any electronics there will be faulty devices. I generally check popular forums to look for negative comments on devices we review and as always I have noticed a few people with issues. Some have complained that the vapour comes out too hot even at the lower temperatures and a few have said their devices heat up slowly and then aren’t active for very long. However, it seems like this is an extremely rare manufacturing fault on the earlier Torpedo. Most of these reviewers have been contacted by Mig Vapour themselves and have had their units replaced. I think a key thing to keep in mind when buying any electronic device is that some will be faulty. The main issue then is how does customer services deal with the problem, if you have a faulty Torpedo it is replaced without quibble and that is good enough for me. When spending around £200 on a PAX 3 for example there are still faulty units.

Battery Life

One of the key facts to consider when buying a vaporiser for on the go sessions is battery size. The Torpedo utilises a huge 2200 mAh battery which allows for continuous use for a long time. At this price point the battery size is really impressive as other vaporisers that come at a higher price point such as the Drey (priced at £125) come in with a 1800 mAh internal battery capacity. It’s clear that one of the main uses for this vaporizer is on the go sessions and with its included USB charging table, it can be recharged on the go from any outlet or USB port, this means you can take it with you on a business trip or to wherever you might need to go and use the USB charger in combination with your laptop, computer, portable battery pack or any USB outlet. This accessibility of charging solutions ensures you will almost never be in a situation where you are out of battery and have no means of charging which I think is an excellent feature for such a portable device.

Size and Ergonomics

The design of the Mig Vapour Torpedo speaks for itself, it is sleek and unassuming and comes in two colours – red and black. As I said earlier this device is an ideal portable vaporizer as many vaporizers with such a large chamber can be bulky, but not the Torpedo, it is slim and compact so does well to fit in any pocket, bag or anywhere you’d expect a vaporizer to be carried. The shape of the vaporizer is also comfortable and fits in almost any hand nicely, ensuring comfort during long sessions.

Torpedo Accessories

Accessories are not the be all or end all when it comes to choosing which product works for you, however it is nice to have replacement parts and cleaning products to correctly care for and maintain your product. The Mig Vapor Torpedo kit includes a good range of cleaning products and is pretty generous at this price point. The kit comes with extra meshes so that once a mesh becomes too dirty to work efficiently it can be replaced. It also includes a cleaning brush which in combination with the large chamber I mentioned earlier allows for easy maintenance on your product and ensures it works as intended for as long as possible. As well as the cleaning products you will also get a range of extra mouth pieces; there are two types – standard clear silicone mouthpieces, you get three of these and slightly longer black silicone mouthpiece of which you get two.

Conclusion

This slick and portable vaporizer has some really enticing features that set it apart from the competition. The combination of battery life, build quality, chamber size, portability and vapour quality makes the Mig Torpedo an excellent choice as both an on the go vaporizer and as a high quality entry level choice for anyone looking for their first or second vaporizer who doesn’t want to break the bank.
