If you’re in that group, you might have thought that the manufacturers were finally beginning to pay attention to your needs when the first refillable pod systems began to hit the market.

You’ve been through all of that before, though, if you’ve been vaping for a while. In the 2010s, you watched as the early e-cigarettes and vape pens gave way to huge vape mods. There was a point where it seemed as though the entire vaping community had switched to the direct-to-lung inhaling style. Pod systems provided a respite from that trend, but it was only temporary. The Z Pod Nano includes a printed quick-start guide, but you might find the guide a little light on information if you’re new to vaping. I’m going to fill in the gaps here by explaining how to use this device and how to fix the most frequent issues that you might encounter with it.

  • Charging the Device: Connect the Z Pod Nano to your computer using the charging cable included with the device. Watch the battery indicator. When all four sections of the indicator are solidly lit, the battery is done charging.
  • Filling the Pod: Remove the protective cover from the top of the device to access the pod. On the side of the pod, you’ll see the silicone plug for the filling port. Pull the plug and add your e-liquid through the hole. If you’re using a new pod, Innokin recommends waiting five minutes before you begin vaping.
  • Vaping: To vape, puff gently on the device’s mouthpiece. Your mouth should begin filling with vapour almost instantly.
  • Adjusting the Wattage: To change the wattage on your Z Pod Nano, press the button twice. The wattage shown on the screen will begin to blink. Press the button to cycle the power. After selecting your desired setting, wait a few seconds to confirm.
  • Turning the Device On and Off: To turn the Z Pod Nano on and off, press the button three times.
  • Replacing the Pod: To replace the pod for your Z Pod Nano, remove the device’s protective cover and pull the pod straight up. You’ll notice an airflow opening at the top of your device; this opening needs to align with the opening at the bottom of the pod. How to Fix Problems with the Innokin Z Pod Nano

Let’s continue with some basic troubleshooting information. This is where the Z Pod Nano’s instruction manual is very lacking, so I’ll explain how to resolve the three most common problems you’re likely to face.

  • Device Isn’t Charging:
    • Start by replacing the cable because this resolves almost all vape charging issues.
    • Try a few different power sources if the issue continues, but don’t use a mains charger for a smartphone, tablet or PC.
    • Check the device’s charging port and make sure it’s clean. Clear the port of any dust and lint with a toothpick.
  • Device Isn’t Working:
    • Confirm that the Z Pod Nano is on by pressing the button three times. If the device doesn’t turn on, charge the battery. If the battery doesn’t charge, troubleshoot that issue.
    • Remove the pod and check to confirm that it’s installed in the correct orientation.
    • Check for e-liquid under the pod. If the pod has leaked, dry all of the vape juice thoroughly with a paper towel.
    • Replace the pod if your Z Pod Nano still isn’t working after following the above steps.
  • Burnt Flavour:
    • Check the window at the top of the device to confirm that the pod still has e-liquid in it. If the pod is low, refill it and wait a few minutes for the wick to absorb the vape juice.
    • If you’ve just filled a new pod, wait a little longer for the e-liquid to absorb and try vaping again.
    • Lower the device’s wattage. Always keep the Z Pod Nano around the suggested wattage range for the pod you’re using.
    • Wait a bit longer between puffs. If you “chain vape,” you may end up puffing while the device’s wick is still refreshing itself. In that case, you’ll get a very harsh “dry hit.”
    • If you’re unable to fix the burnt flavour by following the advice above, it’s likely that your pod has reached the end of its life. You can usually expect your pods to last several days before they begin tasting burnt. If you’re using an extremely sweet e-liquid, though, it’ll reduce the pod’s life.

In this review, I’ve addressed everything except the one very large elephant in the room. As you’ve already seen, the Z Pod Nano is a very unique looking device. The colour schemes almost look like they’re inspired by vintage stand mixers. It definitely doesn’t look like any other vaping device on the market today, and it’s possible that the design won’t quite work for you.

Either way, though, I’d suggest taking a look at the Z Pod Nano if you’re a full-time mouth-to-lung vaper because this device was designed specifically to cater to your needs. Between that and the extremely low price, how could you not give it a try?
