When you buy a vape mod adorned with the GeekVape or SMOK brand, you can have faith that you are maximising your chances of quality vaping regarding either manufacturer. Over the years both hardware giants have raised their game with a wide range of pods and mods for all vapers. We’ve decided to run two vape mods with huge wattage capabilities side by side for all the Sub-Ohm enthusiasts out there. So which will it be, the stylish GeekVape Aegis Legend 2 or the SMOK Rigel, which followed on from the popular SMOK Alien.

GeekVape Aegis Legend 2 vs SMOK Rigel – Sleek Design

We can’t separate these two for design either. The Legend 2 is built with practicality in mind. Much like the previous well-liked vape mod in the Aegis range, the Legend 2 features a wide range of safety protections such as dustproof, waterproof and shockproof capabilities to keep your device in tip-top shape. Even if you drop it in water or on the ground, rest assured it will still be in good nick. Regarding the Rigel, it’s built with a slick honeycomb design pattern on the side of the mod and a rubber coating grip on the back. Both devices are easy to grip in that respect, so comfortable enough in the hand for long periods of vaping should you require.

The Rigel has a 0.96 inch TFT colour display, which can change colours when you press the up and down button together to change via the main menu. Meanwhile, with the Legend 2, the 1.03-inch screen is visible and relatively easy to navigate. The GeekVape mod has a leather grip on the back of the device and iconic styling in line with the Aegis range.

Which Vape Mod Performs Better?

In terms of power, both are high on the vape scale with wattage adjustability up to and above 200W+ depending on your selection. What it boils down to is how large you want your clouds to be and how much e-liquid you like to go through. If you want to maximise flavour and vapour, the Rigel is your best bet with that extra 30W of power. However, most vapers don’t tend to go that high so they run less risk of burning their coils and save on vape juice too. If you run your device that high, you’ll need to keep filling up.

Nonetheless, the Rigel and the Legend 2 perform admirably, with SMOK and GeekVape respectively both doing stellar jobs designing vape mod kits that advanced vapers will appreciate. The Legend 2 boasts four power modes while the Rigel works off of a more simplistic model. However, it doesn’t need any flashy modes itself with dual 18650 batteries to run off, relying on endurance more than adjustable power functions.

SMOK TFV9 Tank or Z 2021 Sub Ohm Tank?

Next up we have the tanks. Both kick out some serious flavour and warmth upon inhale and look bold on top of the mods. Regarding the TFV9, it features mesh coils and functions with other baby beast coils if you have those lying around from the SMOK Alien. Plus, it works well with high VG e-liquids of at least 60% Vegetable Glycerin. The top-fill design is easy for topping up your vape juice on the go. In contrast, the newer Z 2021 Sub Ohm tank from GeekVape gets our props for appearance. Top filling too provides users with a top airflow ring as well to get your DTL vape just right.

Technical Specifications and Features

Like with anything in vaping when you put two mods next to each other, one vaper may like a specific feature that’s not set in stone with another. The subjective differences make it such an interesting sector of electronic gadgets. Each vape mod offers a wide range of functions and performance that certainly enter into the conversation of the best mod from 2021. Here are some of their key features:

SMOK Rigel

  • 230W adjustable wattage
  • 510 threading
  • Dual 18650 batteries
  • Puff counter
  • Type-C charger
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Open fill system

GeekVape Aegis Legend 2

Verdict

It’s honestly hard to separate the two because they both perform so well and are equally reliable. In terms of power, the obvious choice is the SMOK Rigel but for design, if you want something compact that looks good on the eye, we suggest the GeekVape Aegis Legend 2. Both offer the option of dual 18650 batteries which is awesome for longevity and ease of use. Instead of worrying about where and when you need to charge up, just carry around a spare battery and you’re good to go!
